#12 Kendrick Louis: This Too Shall Pass

Surf life saving is a sport not for the faint hearted. 10-12 ft swells, cold waters, Gail force winds, training 12 months a year through sweltering Australian summers for 30 hours a week through all seasons. Kendrick Louis has endured it all, after a serious injury setback during the 2012 Nutri-grain iron man series in Perth Louis was left in one of the darkest times in his life. After pouring everything he could muster into iron man training this was a turning point. A 3 year long distance relationship with his now wife Holly, moving to Mooloolaba surf club for the most gruelling training of his life, after getting the green light from his parents Kendrick left a career as a tradesman to pursue his true passion. Money is scarce in this sport and only a select few of the most elite male competitors can sustain a livelihood through competition and endorsement opportunities. Kenj developed an incredible hunger and relentless attitude to compete at every opportunity. After a decade in the sport he finnally achieved surf live saving athlete of the year in 2018, and was crowned nutri grain Ironman series champion in 2019/2020. Kendrick manages a marketing business with his brother called Louis media and has an smartphone app called UARE, this passage of discussion was a really interesting insight into the applications of this software in training and how Kendrick develops many of his ideas.
