Born in Fiji, Michael Gallus came to Australia when he was just 2 years old. He has been a primary and secondary teacher for 28 years in various schools within Victoria and has a love and passion for Australian rules football that has taken him far and wide. Michael was one of the first junior female football coaches within the Essendon District Football League (EDFL) and Western Region Football League (WRFL), he was a Melbourne based recruitor for the Brisbane lions for two years and commentated for SEN, KROCK and the National Indigenous Radio Service. Micheal has since started a non-for profit charity based organisation called Footys4all inspired by the work of world leader Nelson Mandela. Micheal has had the opportunity to spend time delivering workshops to socioeconomically disadvantaged indigenous communities, running sporting clinics in remote Fijian islands, and delivering much needed support and equipment to Pakistan where he has been the Mens and Women's head AFL coach since 2017. In 2019 Michael spent 2 weeks traveling the country, visiting 10 cities in 10 days promoting across schools and universities. In 2022 Michael spent 3 weeks training the Pakistan mens AFL team for the Asian cup in Bangkok. This tournament was a groundbreaking tournament etching their name into the record books becoming the first team in the 20 year history of the competition, to win on their first attempt with an all national team of players. Michael was also very fortunate to become the first western international AFL coach for Pakistan, and the first Australian to meet with the Pakistan sports minister to discuss his role in coaching the national team.
