#8 Drew Schull & Dyllon Thiele: Forever Tactical

Episode Summary

Late in September 2020, Evatac director Drew Schull was spending $30,000 AUD per day in facebook, google and youtube advertisements and making $110,000 daily through the sale of tactical apparel, bags, backpacks, knives and firearms. Drew held supremely high hopes of continuing to build the brand, however didn't have the adequate stock available. Subsequently, he ordered $2.8 million worth of inventory including $1 million USD worth of knives, and $1 million USD worth of backpacks. At this stage Drew had quarter of a million dollar days in mind, Lamborghini's, private jets and a luxurious lifestyle to say the least! However, then it happened. Just prior to the stock arriving in the united states the Apple IOS 14 update was released and apps were forced to ask users for permission to track their data. The majority opted out of being tracked and subsequently meant their business lost out large sums of money virtually overnight with youtube advertisements alone and stuck with $2.8 million worth of stock sitting in the warehouse unable to be moved. Whilst struggling for the next year during a world gripped by the COVID-19 pandemic, Evatac managed to find their feet. After landing a big affiliate thanks to the help of Dyllon and the team they managed to move some stock and ran some profitable advertising campaigns. This came only years after not having access to many platforms due to their Shopify store being completely blacklisted in Australia for selling knives and firearms when transitioning their business from the USA to Australia. This is a story of persistence and true grit and determination. Against all odds and after countless, sleepless nights Drew and Dyl have been able to build Evatac into what it is today. Dyllon has played an important role in upholding the integrity of the organisation through athlete management and affiliate relationships, whilst Evatac continues to make charitable contributions to Wounded Heroes organisation supporting Australian servicemen and women.
